Will Insurance Pay For My Therapy?

I am licensed with the state of Washington as a mental health counselor (LMHC), and a marriage and family therapist (LMFT). Please note that, despite the word “marriage” in my licensure, you do not need to be married!

I have chosen to only work with one insurance provider directly — Premera. However, most companies allow for out-of-network coverage. This simply means you pay for your session, and I provide you with the document you need to send in for reimbursement. Please check with your particular plan to ensure your coverage.

You will need to check your policy prior to our meeting to verify:

  • If I am in-network with your plan.

  • If you need prior authorization for behavioral health services.

  • If you have an outstanding deductible that must be satisfied before they will cover your services.

  • What your co-pay is.

  • If there are limitations to the number of sessions they will allow.

I will provide you with assistance in receiving the behavioral health benefits to which you are entitled, submitting bills to the companies when that is appropriate, or providing documentation as required by the insurance company, with your release.

If I am not in-network with your insurance company, I can help you obtain out-of-network benefits, if that is offered by your insurance plan.

Please note that you are ultimately responsible for payment of your sessions if your insurance declines all or part of your services.

Your insurance is a contract between you and your insurance company; I have no influence over your coverage or the acceptance or denial of claims for services provided to you. Your copay is determined by your insurance plan.

I Don’t Have Health Insurance. What Does Therapy Cost?

Sessions are 55 minutes long and are $165. I accept cash, checks, credit and HSA/FSA cards.

90-minute sessions are $250; three-hour intensives are $495, and include two 10-minute breaks.

Phone or online sessions are possible and are pro-rated at $165 per hour.  If I need to write a report for any reason (court, for example), this will be billed at $165 per hour as well.  Phone and online sessions, as well as report writing, are payable via Paypal or VISA/MC.
